Goa's language predominantly is Konkani. Goa's Konkani is spoken by a mix of Hindu, Christian, and a sprinkling of Muslims. Interestingly, though Marathi is more common among the Hindus, Konkani is the lingua franca among all ethnic communities, and your attempts at a smattering of Konkani, however feeble, will strike a familiar chord with the locals. Incidentally, with the intermarriage between early colonial settlers and the inhabitants, many Goans bear names of Portuguese origin. So if you are Travelling on a Goa holiday package remember to learn a few konkani words and the locals will pamper you beyond imagination.

How to Enjoy Your Holiday - Free Tips by Sunjive Jaadhav

Goa holiday is always exciting and something to look forward to. Goa actually brings you an image of fun, excitement and adventure. It is time to take a break, away from your work, the phone calls, the kid's activities, the daily routine. This is a great opportunity to spend time as a family and enjoy .

Goa has lots to offer you especially if you have the knowledge of the local places. You must know where to eat, drink, sightsee, shop, if you want a satisfying experience.

Here are a few Free Tips that will make your Goa holiday a memorable one...

How to Book: Tip 1 - Book a Package and Save
Goa holiday starts with the booking of your Goa resort & hotel. Book a package and you save almost 30%-40% as you get the benefit of the large volume of business generated by TSWW www.tsww-holidays.com . A package is always a hassle free option as your Stay, Transfers, Meals, and Sightseeing is Included in the package price. You also have a wide choice of Goa hotel packages to choose from. For those who have traveled to Goa before, you too have many options available. So choose a package that suites your budget and needs. Remember when you book a package - YOU SAVE.

Where to Stay in : Tip 2 - Stay near the beach
Goa's 3 main cities, Panaji, the capital city, Mapusa in North Goa & Madgaon in South Goa are extremely popular. All resorts are located alongside the beaches connecting these 3 cities. All the cities are well linked by road and you can reach them from your beach resort by Public transport, taxis & autos

Where should you stay on your Goa Holiday? Beachside... yes the beach would be the obvious answer. It all depends on the type of holiday you are looking for. If you are looking for action, nightlife and a happening atmosphere, Then North Goa is the place to stay. First time travelers to Goa should stay at North Goa especially in the Calangute / Candolim area. Everything is conveniently located and within walking distance.

North Goa beaches are very famous. Baga & Calangute beaches need no introduction. You have a choice of places near the beach starting from Sinquireim beach near the Taj Holiday Village resort. Further down is Candolim beach preferred by most who want some peace and quiet and less crowds. Candolim is very popular with Europeans and Indians alike as this area is considered posh. Calangute is the hub of all the action in Goa. Calangute is popular for its beaches and the Fun atmosphere it offers. Baga is the next beach. Baga now is equally popular like Calangute. It's a pretty place with shops and beaches known for the foreign tourists and beach shacks. You go a little further and you have Arpora and Anjuna both popular for the parties and trance music.

South Goa on the other hand is quieter and ideal for relaxation and Honeymoons. The distances are longer. Colva and Benaulim are most popular for their beaches and convenience. Madgaon is only 15-25 minutes away by road and both Colva & Benaulim have excellent resorts alongside the beach area. If you like peace, quiet and a Goa Holiday away from the crowd holiday... South Goa is the place. South Goa beaches are flat and safe. You can enjoy swimming and water sports which are common feature on the beaches. There are many Hotels & Resorts in Panjim / Mapusa /Madgaon city too. The downside is that in the evenings everything gets quiet after 8 pm . If you are looking for nightlife you have to travel towards the beachside. So when in Goa - stay by the beach!

IMPORTANT: The beaches in North Goa are not flat like in South Goa or in Mumbai. There is a sudden dip after a few meters. You may enter the water provided you are a good swimmer. Children should keep safe distance from the water unless they are accompanied by a parent who can swim well.

How to Travel : Tip 3 - Save on your transport cost
North Goa is very convenient and you can easily travel as distances are short and public transport is easily available. Taxis are a bit pricey... you will have to bargain. Try the autos or best Hire a Scooter. Scooters are available everywhere, even small store owners rent out scooters. It's best to request your resort to assist in hiring one for you.

Choose your Goa Hotel /Resort in the Candolim/Calangute area. You will spend less on traveling as the locations have everything within walking distance. Buses are very cheap and fun to travel in. You can get the local goan flavour traveling by Goa buses. There are direct buses from Calangute to Mapusa/Panjim leaving at short intervals. Buses run until late evening from Mapusa and Panjim to Calangute, Candolim & Baga.

South Goa is convenient provided you are staying in Colva/Benaulim area. There are regular buses from Madgaon Bus stand to Colva and Benaulim. The fare is cheap too. You can also travel by taxi or an auto but make sure you bargain.

IMPORTANT: Always check for the last bus timings when you go to Panjim/ Mapusa or Madgaon and ensure you leave much before the last bus to avoid the last minute crowds. Be prepared to pay exorbitant taxi fare in case you miss the last bus. If you choose to go to Madgaon from Panjim or vice versa there is an excellent bus service that runs every 5 minutes between Panjim Bus Stand & Madgaon Bus stand . The fare is minimum. The travel time is 45 minutes. Yes .., you can Save Big money.

Where to Eat : Tip 4 - Eat & Drink Fenny!
Goa is known for its fish delicacies as well as non veg cuisine. Vegetarians too can get a taste of Goa but Goa is Goa and without Vindaloo, Xacuti , Cafreal and Feni, a Goan holiday is incomplete.
Surprisingly Goa also has known for its wines, cakes

There are restaurants all along the road from Sinquerim , Candolim , Calangute to Baga. Each serving different cuisine from local Goan to Chinese food. You have a great choice. There's a list of select restaurants that you may be of interest to you.
